Do you struggle each year to find last minute gifts, or do you purchase items on your credit card and end up paying for the holidays all year long? Well here are some gifting ideas that will be remembered for a long time:
The Art of Possibility
Every Human being is brought into the world Radiating Possibility. The trick is to keep that song going-how many of us have long forgotten the lyrics? This must-read by 70 year old Ben Zander-director of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra and Inspirational speaker on leadership, will make the most awesome gift.
“We live lives in stories, and people say it's going to be very depressing, and terrible, and everything's going to fall apart - and that's a story. I choose to say, that the next 30 years are going to be the most exciting 30 years in human history. There is a lot of evidence to show that the world is exploding in all directions, that things that happen today are known all around the world tomorrow, and there are unimaginable breakthroughs on every front - medical, communication, in so many different ways. It's already the most exciting time in human history. And saying so brings the conversation out in that way, and people start thinking that way, and they get excited about it and they think, wow, I'm part of it, and I'm alive at this time, this is the most exciting time to be alive. By generating that story it creates a certain reaction, a certain vitality, a certain excitement and then it turns out to be just that.” Ben Zander
Gratitude Box
A gratitude box is a wonderful gift to make for someone. Take a decorative writing paper or different coloured papers. On these write things you appreciate about the recipient. Eg "I am grateful for your…laughter, your delicious carrot cake, your continuous encouragement, etc."
You can write as many "gratitudes" as you feel in your heart and place them in a beautiful box or a velvet bag. Then, present it as a unique and heartfelt gift of appreciation and love.
Give a Guest Book
Give each guest at your holiday gathering a guest book with their name on it. Pass the books around so each guest can write at least one reason they appreciate the person whose name is on the cover. When the evening is over, every person leaves with a keepsake that recorded the many ways he or she is special.
Kids Beach Fun Gift Idea
Take a beach towel and inside it wrap: a plastic pail with plastic shovel , sand molds, beach ball (deflated), flip-flops, sunglasses, sunscreen for kids, bathing suit, Bubbles & Bubble Wands. Tie both ends of the towel with a bright ribbon.
Pasta Lovers' Bowl
Take a colander or pasta bowl and line it with Italian-inspired tablecloth (red, checked, etc.). Fill with jars of various pasta (buy odd-shaped pasta and pour into inexpensive glass jars and wrap with raffia for decoration). Use similar technique with pasta sauces (either homemade or store-bought). Add a container of Parmesan cheese, a pasta ladle, a pasta cook book, red wine. It makes a perfect, quick, and inexpensive gift for just about anyone.
"The test of our progress is not whether we add to the abundance of those who have much. It is whether we provide enough to those who have little."
